About the Data
The dataset used in this project is sourced from Major League Baseball’s Baseball Savant / Statcast system. Statcast uses high-speed tracking cameras and Doppler radar installed in every MLB ballpark to capture pitch-by-pitch mechanics, including release velocity, spin rate, movement profiles, and pitch classifications. Pitchers were cross-referenced with national team rosters from the World Baseball Classic to analyze international pitch preferences and tactical approaches across countries.
